Coverage Options - And how to choose the right limits

Comprehensive? Underinsured? PIP? Liability? A brief explanation of what these coverages mean

Sorensen Insurance offers personalized car insurance policies for all drivers. We know that not all Utah drivers are the same, and not all drivers will want to have the same kind of coverage—that’s okay. Sorensen Insurance will get to know you and your insurance goals so we can give you a policy that works for your lifestyle and your budget. Take a look at some of our personalized offerings:

• Standard and Preferred Auto Insurance • Classic Autos • High Valued Autos • Special Program for Mature/Elderly Drivers • Recreational Vehicles (RV) • Boats

Collision and Comprehensive

We at Sorensen Insurance hope you never need collision coverage, but in the event that you’re in an accident, having a collision or comprehensive insurance policy will greatly reduce the financial burden of damaged property.

Collision coverage insures against damage done to your vehicle during an accident. Comprehensive coverage insures your car against other types of physical damage that may occur to your vehicle from events like fires, floods, or vandalism. These two common types of car insurance include a deductible ranging from $100 – $1,000; the higher the deductible, the lower the premium.

Liability

Liability car insurance is the minimum policy a driver must posses in the state of Utah. This coverage pays for injuries you cause to others and their property when you’re at fault for an accident.

Medical

As we all know, health-related services can be some of the most expensive following a car accident. Medical insurance will pay for expenses up to a certain dollar amount in the event that you or your passengers are ever injured, regardless of who is at fault. Depending on your personal health coverage, you may or may not need this insurance.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Some states require personal injury insurance, which is sometimes called No-Fault Insurance. This coverage pays for medical and rehabilitation expenses, funeral expenses, and loss of income if you are injured in an accident and unable to work.

Uninsured Motorist

Hit-and-run accidents are more common than people think. Uninsured or under-insured motorist coverage will cover your costs if you’re injured in an accident caused by a person who does not have insurance or if his/her liability insurance is unable to pay for all your medical expenses. This coverage also covers injuries incurred by a hit-and-run driver.

Roadside Assistance

While roadside assistance is considered optional, it can be a lifesaver if you ever experience mechanical failure from your vehicle. This coverage includes things like towing, rental reimbursement, and roadside assistance. While these items are not required, they may certainly come in handy.
